ZIPANGU @ Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur~ The Best Japanese Buffet in town, now at RM 175 NETT!

Zipangu at the Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur is serving a Dinner Buffet every day from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.The dinner buffet, priced at RM175 nett per person, features mainly Japanese dishes varied with some Chinese and Malay items.

Begin dinner with appetizers like Spicy Edamame, Deep-fried Seafood with Vinegar Sauce, Hokkaido Snow Crab Salad and Chikuzenni, among others. There is also a fresh seafood station laid out with US oysters, diver scallops, green lip mussels, tiger prawns, yabbies and Japanese clams.

Take your pick of sashimi, nigiri sushi and rolled sushi. Savour special dishes like Grouper and Winter Vegetable Shabu-shabu or Roast Beef and Grouper Hot Pot.

The Teppanyaki Counter offers assorted seafood, beef, lamb and chicken, Stir-fried Seafood Udon and Minced Squid Ball. There are Tempura, Grilled Salmon Head, Unagi Kabayaki and Deep-fried Dumplings. Sukiyaki and Korean Kimuchi Soup are at the Hot Pot section while special hot dishes such as Nyonya Steamed Fish, Stir Fried Kam Hiong Tiger Prawns and Rendang Daging are also on the buffet.

There is a host of desserts, from home-made Japanese Mochi and jelly to western desserts like Bread and Butter Pudding, English Trifle, Strawberry Panna Cotta, Pistachio Cherry Compote Tiramisu and Mini Crème Brulee, among several others.

YAHONG ART GALLERY~ One of the Best Artworks to See @ Art Expo Malaysia Plus 2016!

The Yahong Art Gallery is also home to Malaysia's most celebrated batik artist, Datuk Chuah Thean Teng. Teng's brilliant batik paintings, coupled with the work of his two artist sons, are displayed in the gallery's upper level.

Yahong Gallery attractively displays the original batik paintings of Chuah Thean Teng. His works are avidly sought by both private collectors and museums throughout the world. Teng enjoys notability as the father and master of batik painting. He has transformed the ancient craft of batik into a fine art form. In addition, three of Teng's sons are fine artists working in batik painting as well as several other mediums. Although Teng's paintings occupy a prominent position in the gallery, Yahong also displays works of other notable artists in watercolour, Chinese ink and oil. Yahong's engaging display of vivid art work will tempt the casual buyer as well as the serious collector.

CHUAH SEOW KENG 蔡小庆

Being the second son of Datuk Chuah Thean Teng, Chuah Seow Keng, 70 is recognized as one of Malaysia’s leading artists and is very well known for his batik and watercolour paintings. Born in 1945 in Kelantan, Malaysia, Seow Keng now makes his home in Penang. In 1968 he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Suddeutsche Kunststoff-Zentrum in Wurzburg, Germany. While attending this academy he specialized in fiberglass sculpture, a difficult, but rewarding art medium. While being recognized as an accomplished sculptor, Seow Keng is also acknowledged as a masterful batik artist. His abilities as an artist were noticed at a very early age. He was exposed to the art of batik painting by his father, the renowned artist Chuah Thean Teng, who pioneered batik painting as a fine art form. Seow Keng excels in this intricate art technique and was chosen to demonstrate his batik skills at the International Freundschaftheim in Buckeburg, Germany. During 1974 Germany’s Television Channel Zweites-Deutsches- Fernsehen-Trans-Tel made a documentary film of Seow Keng and his brothers who demonstrated the art of batik painting for German viewers.
