Wat Prachumthat forms a tripartite relationship with the more famous Wat Machimmaram Buddhist temple and the lesser known Pikulyai temple. Historically, these three were placed under the protection of the Thai King's soldiers during the Japanese occupation of Malaysia. Wat Prachumthat is a three century old building with spacious grounds. A beautifully decorated prayer hall and a 20-metre-tall pagoda has been built. The latter houses a statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, or Earth Store Bodhisattva. The surrounding walls will be built with cubicles to house the ash remains of those cremated.
