小屋 KOYAKU JAPANESE DINING & GRILL~ The Premium and Authentic Japanese Cuisine @ Taman Desa!

‘Koyaki’ literally means ‘little house’ in Japanese, hence the reflection of its multi-faceted interior that largely revolves around roof-shaped embellishments, capturing the essence of the Japan culture. Those assorted cardboard boxes of various sizes, majestically staggering behind are actually all brought it from The Land of the Rising Sun itself by the owner of Koyaki who has a soft spot for aesthetics. Not only that, you would also stumble gleefully upon seeing the huge life-size Astro Boy!

Koyaku Japanese Dining is dimly lit and the interior decor is very unique and interesting! A life size Ganbare Robocon stands right in the middle of the restaurant and various size of Astro Boy figurines can be seen throughout the whole restaurant. Small Japanese dolls and Japanese decors can be seen everywhere in the restaurant.

They also offered Omakase dining (starting from RM150) where the chef will be deciding and serving you the sushi and sashimi that he chose and made. It is different from ala carte where you order the meal that you like. Omakase dining would be a great experience for people that love sashimi as the chef will serve the freshest and finest selection of sashimi available in the restaurant!

This restaurant is so fantastic that it not only serves the authentic Japanese food but also the overall interior decorations are very unique and patriotic.

Nyonya Nasi Lemak with Wild Boar Curry @ Restoran Sepetang, Taman Desa!

From Faber Towers, follow the row of shophouses along Jalan Desa Bakti till you reach Restoran Sepetang. It’s not hard to find; it’s the one with a long queue of customers winding around the stall in front. The popular run by multilingual owner Karen, offers Nyonya style nasi lemak.
This means, in addition to fluffy grains of coconut milk rice, spicy-savory sambal, crispy ikan bilis (larger in size than the usual variety), you will also be offered some of her signature pickled pineapple and cucumber relish, which is utterly addictive — so good you can eat it on its own. But what sets Karen’s nasi lemak apart from the rest is the option to add a side of dry curried wild boar. Hardly the most common in town, much less paired with nasi lemak, the wild boar is succulent without being overly gamey, and thanks to the right mix of rempah rendang (Malay curry spices). Don’t forget to tapao (take away) some Nyonya kuih for tea later in the day.
